Starbucks and Mercedes-Benz Collaborate to Expand EV Charging Network in US
In a strategic partnership, Starbucks and Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging are teaming up to electrify over 100 Starbucks stores across the United States. The initial phase of this program will focus on installing high-power electric vehicle (EV) chargers at Starbucks locations along Interstate 5—a critical west coast travel corridor stretching from Washington to California. These chargers will be strategically placed in core urban areas and charging deserts, with plans to identify additional locations on the East Coast.
Starbucks has a strong commitment to sustainability, aiming to give more to the planet than it takes. Currently, customers can charge their EVs at over 1,000 licensed and company-operated Starbucks stores nationwide. By partnering with Mercedes-Benz, Starbucks aims to expand its EV charging network, making renewable energy and clean technology accessible to more communities.
The charging stations along the I-5 route will feature the Alpitronic Hypercharger 400, equipped with NACS cables and capable of supporting a wide voltage range of EVs. The collaboration aims to seamlessly integrate the charging experience with the familiar routine of grabbing a coffee, encouraging sustainable choices for both coffee lovers and EV drivers alike.
