Toyota Group will launch EV Sedan soon?
It appears that Lexus, a luxury brand under the Toyota Group, is considering entering the electric sedan market with an electric version of its ES sedan. The ES is the more luxurious counterpart to the Toyota Camry, sharing the same front-wheel-drive platform. The introduction of an electric ES could also signal the eventual arrival of a more affordable electric Camry.
Based on trademark filings, Lexus is planning to introduce two electric versions of the ES: the ES350e and the ES500e. The ES350e will likely be a single-motor drive vehicle with around 300 horsepower, while the ES500e could feature a more powerful dual-motor setup, all-wheel drive, and 400 horsepower or more. These electric variants are expected to compete with other electric sedans in the market, including the popular Tesla Model 3.
As for Toyota, there is no official confirmation yet regarding an electric Camry. However, given the shared platform between the ES and Camry, it's possible that if Lexus introduces an electric ES, Toyota may follow suit with an electric Camry at a more affordable price point.
Keep an eye out for further updates from both Lexus and Toyota as they explore the electric vehicle market!
